Sometimes it seems like the only rule to home decorating is "the more expensive, the better your taste." Almost everybody forgets to pay attention to what they spend when they decorate-they get caught up in what they want to do. Don't worry too much if you don't have a lot of money to use on your home decorating project. It is absolutely possible to create a beautiful home without spending everything in your bank account.

You don't have to decorate exclusively from super expensive galleries and art shows. For now, forget about original art work (unless you want to make it yourself). Instead look for prints of your favorite works of art. Prints are less expensive than original works of art. Art prints are cheaper and easier to deal with than original artworks. Prints are even easier to frame than original paintings-you can do the framing yourself (which helps save money)! Simply choose a frame you like from the discount racks at the frame shop and do the work yourself! Buying prints of your favorite artwork and doing the framing yourself is easier on your budget and your schedule because you don't have to cater to a gallery's schedule or have to pick up a framed piece of art as soon as a framer calls you.

Don't get carried away-start with small touches. Don't worry about filling up every inch of your home's free space with decoration; just start with a few things and build around them. Save your cash for the decorative items you truly love instead of just trying to fill the space as quickly as possible.

Think outside the box! There are plenty of things you already own that you can use to decorate your house. Hanging the pots and pans on the wall in your kitchen is a great way to create kitchen decorations and save you valuable minutes when it is time to cook something. If you put your cookery on the walls, you won't have to dig through the cabinets to find it!

Quite a few people find that, once they start decorating, the things they want the most are pretty easy to find. Just take some time and let yourself be creative. Empty walls can be just as, if not more, beautiful than a wall crammed full of art.

Even art that you make yourself is just as worthy as art done by famous artists. Decide what kind of decor you truly want before you start looking for individual pieces. Jumping in and going overboard is only good for emptying the bank account.
