postheadericon Ideas for decorating a teenager's bedroom

Decorating a teenager's room can be extremely difficult as not only can they be very hard to please but their interests and needs are likely to change often as they get older. The best way to get around this problem is to make the bedroom as easy to change as possible and so that any changes which do need to be made cost very little to make. Thankfully there are plenty of ways to make a room changeable and to make it suitable for a teenager for a long time.

For teenagers colours are extremely important and so it is very tempting to go for a very distinctive colour scheme for their bedroom. The problem with this is that they are difficult to change, offer little light and don't go with most interior items. Going for a much simpler colour scheme such as magnolia has many more benefits and the colour in the room can then be added by things like bedding and curtains.

Teenagers are also reaching the point where they will have a lot of work to do for the next few years and so it is good to try and encourage this by putting a desk in their room. Not only will it encourage them to do work but it also provides them with somewhere to sit rather than using their bed to sit on all of the time.

Teenagers are usually quite untidy people and so the more storage space in their room the better. Shelves, drawers and cupboards are a really good way to encourage teenagers to be tidy and to give them somewhere to put everything. Another thing to consider is a washing basket to avoid clothes being left all over the floor.

Another difficult decision which parents face is what flooring to choose for a teenager's bedroom. As teenagers like to do almost everything in their rooms there is a good chance that they will spill food or drink on the floor so it is a much better option to go for something like laminate which is easily cleaned. Laminate flooring also goes well with most colour schemes so it can be kept for a long time.
